For this demonstration I have used a Lunker City Sluggo 4.5inch, a Decoy Rock Fish Worm hook size 1/0, small glass bead and a cone lead.
The Texas rig originates from the United States where it was used for targeting mainly fresh water Bass. However, it has become increasingly popular rig when targeting all manner of species in both fresh and saltwater. It is especially deadly for Wrasse and Pollack.
What you need:
- Soft plastic of choice
- Weed less hook to match the lure size
- Glass or plastic bead
- Cone lead (various weights usually between 3 -12g)
Slide the cone lead onto the leader followed by the bead and attach the hook with your chosen knot.
The bead will help protect the knot from the cone lead and also act as an attractant, through colour or vibrations.
That’s it – simple. The whole rig runs freely along the line.
