For this demonstration I have used a Lunker City Sluggo 4.5inch and a Delalande 10g, 2/0 jig head. For a rough guide to hook size in relation to soft plastic length see ‘A guide to hook sizes for soft plastics’.
One of the most commonly used presentation styles when using soft plastics. Open point jig heads can be used in a wide range of scenarios.
What you need:
- Soft plastic of choice
- Open point jig head with hook to match lure size and desired weight.
Mark on the lure with your thumb or finger where the hook will come through.
Take the point of the hook and push it into the front of the soft plastic lure. Feed the lure along the hook, following it around the bend and push the point through at the marked location.
Continue feeding the lure along the hook until the front face of the soft plastic is now flush with the back face of the jig head.
The lure should now be straight and look like this.
